A market day!!

A questionable day today. In typical fashion the weathermen predicted clouds and hail, but we decided how is that different than any other day - turns out it was gorgeous, go figure. Off we went to explore Ulverston and beyond!! We hit the road with no plan other than to find some markets and see some sights. First stop - Ulverston Market. A whole lot of everything from fresh fish to rugs and boots. Lunchtime at Farmer's Arms brought a nice spread of calamari, ham & celery soup, sides of chips and mushrooms, a steak sandwich and a tuna melt. 29 Pounds financially and 50 pounds in our bellies later off we went for more exploring. We picked out a nice rump steak from the butcher and some garlic parsley cheese for dinner and decided Kendal was close enough to go see. Along the way Sizergh Castle presented itself just off the main road. Unfortunately it was closed but proved valuable by providing local visitors brochures and some noisy sheep. The views along the way to Kendal were breathtaking - snow capped mountains, grazing sheep, green fields and stone houses built long before America was discovered. Yet another market found in Kendal's town center, this one was much more than just a market. Shopping galore!!! Our bellies were too full to try and fit into anything, but window shopping was nice. We found the World Famous Chocolate House built in 1657. The door and stairs were about as wide as my left leg, but we managed to go inside and browse the famous goods. Kendal had the most shopping we've seen thus far and we left with some tea and a hat Erin isn't sure she likes. I told her so. We made it back just in time to watch our first futbol match on the tele. Manchester United versus Tottenham. We are trying to add some more channels to our setup so we can see more of the world's best sport.
